I chose to host my website on Neocities because I think it is a really cool way to find unique sites of all sorts from artist portfolios, games, blogs, and more. I enjoy the maximalist website designs of lots of Neocities sites but decided against such a style for the site to be easy on the eyes. I had learned some basic html coding through Neocities' tutorial, as well a small lesson from my math class from my senior year in high school. Little did I know the undertaking it would still be even while using a site template. For time’s sake, it would have been more practical to use Google Sites, but I like the aesthetics that this platform allows for. I made design choices for easy navigation without clutter, like simple light blue background, while still keeping interest with a lovely font and images.
I have found while working on this project, I struggle to write in a relaxed tone. I struggled to break up text into bite sized pieces as I tend to want to add details that may not be needed. Having a multimodal assignment like a slideshow presentation was easier because it is broken into individual slides, and I can speak more relaxed than my writing. Despite the struggle, I did learn how to take the most important information and share it concisely.
